The Brothers Sun Wiki

Alexis Kong is one of the main characters of the Netflix streaming series The Brothers Sun. She is a deputy district attorney in Los Angeles and Charles Sun's childhood friend from Taipei.

History[]

In Favor for a Favor, Alexis and the rest of the LAPD end up hot on the trail of crime after being called to investigate an explosion at the nightclub. Eventually, Alexis tracks Bruce down to his college, and finds Charles munching on churros, casually holding a bag containing the killer’s head. It turns out that Charles and Alexis both share a history as old friends who grew up together in Taipei. Their paths split when Alexis went to the States for her education. However, before Alexis can question Charles further, he once again slips away. Later, Alexis pays another visit to Charles, where she reveals that she knows about his father’s condition, and warns him against stirring up trouble in Los Angeles. Alexis then takes Charles’s number, so they can keep in touch.

In Whatever You Want, Charles and Alexis both meet for lunch, and they can’t seem to meet halfway with anything, as Charles does not want to be associated with cops and she is insistent she isn’t one. Later, Charles asks Alexis to visit Tony Tang's restaurant, promising her a big scoop after the spectacle, June Song, has created in her wake. Unbeknownst to her though, one of the cops who works at LAPD is compromised and he works for the mysterious gang who leaves behind red ribbons on their deceased victims.

In Square, Alexis is digging into who the masked men or the Red Ribbon gang could be. Alexis notices a QR code hidden inside the red ribbon. She manages to use the dead man’s fingerprints to get inside of the phone's data. Furthermore, she scans the QR code, and it opens a group chat. She learns that there is a meeting that night at the spa, and asks her partner Mark Rizal for help, but he denies her help. When getting into her car, a masked man attacks her. She manages to escape after blinding the man with spicy noodle powder.

In The Rolodex, Alexis saves Charles, who wakes up disoriented in her apartment. Although Charles is uncomfortable talking to a cop, he’s grateful and asks her to retrieve his phone from the spa. Later, Alexis retrieves Charles’s phone, and they talk about their past before having sex and sleeping together. Charles asks for another favor, and they discuss the recent deaths of businessmen around town. Suspecting Alexis is using him, Charles refuses to share information. A fight ensues, which reveals that Alexis had put a tracker on his phone.

In Country Boy, Alexis deploys two people to keep an eye on Charles at John Cho's house. Unfortunately, the men Alexis had sent were murdered by the Boxers, and a red ribbon was kept in front of their bodies. Later, Charles visits the location, and calls Alexis. Charles tries to smooth things out, but Alexis is cold as her colleagues are listening to the conversation.

In Gymkata, Alexis gets information about the Triad leaders' meeting in LA, as she is tracking Charles’ movements. Alexis’s understanding of the Chinese belief system helps them keep track of the Triads. Later, the FBI and Alexis count the bodies, and watch the bloodbath unfold. Alexis, for her part, seems to be worried about Charles.

In Protect the Family, Alexis tries to get information from Frank Ma, who is currently arrested. Frank Ma agrees to cooperate only if Big Sun is arrested, and he demands candy. Later, when Charles is in the police station, he begs Alexis to let him go, but she does not want to comply. Alexis wants to know where Big Sun is, but Charles refuses to answer that. Alexis finds Bruce Sun’s number, and calls him to the police station. Bruce puts up a performance to win Alexis’s sympathy, and gets a private meeting with Charles without any security cameras on. Afterwards, Bruce walks out to tell Alexis from his brother that the Sun family don’t work with cops. Alexis releases Charles from custody, unscathed. Afterwards, when the dust settles, Alexis gets promoted. In the season finale, she is seen at home, eating the pineapple cakes that Charles made for her.
